it's said that a person is lucky to snag a two bedroom apartment on the main street. malina wasn't one of those lucky people. while her mother takes up the mouse-hole of a bedroom, malina makes her home on the fold out couch. this makes gitta's entertainment of the opposite sex all the more awkward. the front room is attached to the kitchen, and the bathroom is...somewhere. likely, in that room that slightly resembles a closet. well, it's better than nothing.
this tiny apartment is everything ashlyn needs, thus she doesn't mind it. there's a single bedroom, decorated with her own silky red sheets, and a small window in the corner beside her bookcase and desk. you walk down the hallway leading from her bedroom and there is a single bathroom with a shower, and then you keep walking to go into the kitchen, with a stove, microwave, and fridge and a small table for two in the middle. a small entryway leads into the wood-floored living room, where there is one couch and very dim lights overhead with a small tv on the wall, and the walls are a dull, boring cream color that she's made sure to decorate with her own paintings and etc.
zephyr has been living on her own in her mother's apartment since before she can remember, with only her cat to keep her company. not that she minds this; surprising as it may be, the apartment is actually VERY well kempt, hardly any disorder or disconduct in the home whatsoever. there just so happen to be two bedrooms in this one, as it were, and the only thing that remains untouched in the house is her mother's bedroom. she shut the door to it after she left, and hasn't been in there since. there is a tiny kitchen and dining room attached in one, and a nice view to the outside world but no porch. she has a single laptop that she just managed to buy a couple of days ago, and she couldn't love it more. it sits on the dining room table half the time, and overall, it is not a bad house...as long as social services stay away, zephyr should be in good shape. however, sooner or later, the neighbors might get suspicious...
in this case, mister jeremy has in fact, lucked out very much. his money has gone somewhere for this particular apartment; it has a gorgeous view of iceland's waterfront, especially at night with the city lights. though there isn't much of a yard, it has one bedroom and a guest, a large hallway bathroom, and a gorgeous, wood-floored, light beige colored living room. nice curtains drape the various windows, the front one of the living room in fact made of stained glass, and to top it all off, a kitchen with a side balcony that looks out towards the view. His desk is next to his bed, which is layered with dark navy sheets, and his desk, bearing a gorgeous laptop, sits by the window, his ultimate place of thought.
the tiny apartment that fang lives in can described more as a rainforest than as a living space. potted plants are set haphazardly on any available surface as well as the ground. there is a small kitchen with a wooden table and two chairs set next to the almost-empty fridge. all of the counters are covered with plants. the only discernable pieces of furniture in the living space are the loveseat and old tv set. there is also a miniscule bathroom and one bedroom. fang's bedroom contains his bed and a dresser that has random objects scattered upon it. the small apartment isn't much, and it hardly feels at home except for the plants, but it's all he can afford.
quaint, cozy, and minuscule, the apartment ágústa hólm has lived in for the past twenty years contains nothing more than the necessities. with two bedrooms on either side of the small apartment, there lies a small, eat-in kitchen beside a small living area in the center. though she has taken to placing small photos of the hólm family around her apartment, she knows not to place pictures of jonah's mother around, for fear of what he might do if seeing a mere photo of her. because of his unstable condition, she has been walking on eggshells around him, keeping the house clean and furnished to whatever he wishes, which isn't much.
considering ágústa's low income and long hours, it's only natural that the house has become devoid of life. jonah walks in and out of it like a ghost, and ágústa only comes to sleep. they lead different lives, and it is apparent in the stillness of the objects placed sporadically throughout the home.
