the valley seems to hold every natural beauty - from the meandering brooks, to the expansive grasslands and the sparse forests that litter it's sloping hills, it is one of eventide's most prized possessions.

the kvöld valley holds many untold stories as well in its beauty - many that are said to speak of the origin of the people called the whispered ones.

but that's just an old folk tale...isn't it?

older than eventide and holding more secrets than the heritage families is the almannagja fissure. situated at the convergence of the north american and eurasian tectonic plates, one truly feels as though they are walking along the origins of earth.

in 1998, a devastating earthquake ripped along the seems of this breathtaking rift. many residents lost their homes, more lost their peace of mind.

now, nearly ten years later, the government of iceland has declared it a national heritage site. its opening converging with the festival of the lights gives it the distinction it deserves.
