	ARFLIEFÐ MEMORIAL SITE Thanks to the generous donations of the Heritage Families, the Arfleifð Memorial serves to commemorate the twenty lives lost in the devastating earthquake of 1990. Located at the entrance of the park, the tall marble memorial is inscribed a list of those lost, and is surrounded by curved stone benches. ARFLIEFÐ MEMORIAL SITE

AFTANSTUND NATIONAL PARK

Located thirty minutes outside of Eventide, some believe that all of the mysteries surrounding Eventide can be answered here. The Almannagja Fissure has captured the imagination of visitors and locals alike for generations.

In 1990, a devastating earthquake tore through the heart of this breathtaking rift. Many nearby residents lost their homes and lives. Now, nearly twenty years later, the Government of Iceland has declared it a National Heritage site.
